4life iPad Stand – Low Price Reviews

In May 2020, Apple released their Magic keyboard and trackpad stand for iPad Pro, for a cool $349 for the larger, and $299 for the 11” model. The stand allows the iPad to magically float in the air from the viewing angle of the user.

I can’t afford that.

So today we’re checking out this super compact iPad Stand from eBay, which cost me just over a fiver. But is it any good?

How do they describe the 4Life Tablet Stand?

The catchy full title on the eBay listing is “4Life™ Compact Portable Adjustable Tablet Stand for iPad, Galaxy Tab etc – White”

“Made from a high quality hard plastic, this sturdy tablet stand neatly folds down to a very portable size. Ideal for travel… take on the train with you, take on your holidays, to work, anywhere – super convenient.

Move the stand as you wish to obtain the viewing angle you desire. The legs feature rubber pads to grip and be gentle on your tablet / phone.

Compatible with tablets upto 12 inches, also works great with mobile phones, android and iPhone.

Material: High quality hard plastic.

Compatible Models: Universal for iPhone & Android phones and tablets.

Dimensions (when folded): 18.5cm x 3.2 cm

What is it really?

The 4Life stand is basically some pretty cheap plastic parts which unfold into an iPad stand which will accept landscape or portrait iPads of any size.

It’s clearly pretty cheaply made, but it works pretty well all things considered. The hard plastic has got a nice texture moulded into its surface which makes it feel nicer than it really is, and the anti slip grey padding for the iPad actually feels really nice to the touch.

The joints are nice and clicky and pretty tight, like a brand new out of the box transformer toy. It’s quite satisfying to just click the parts around for a bit.

It also gives a pretty good range of angles that you can prop your iPad up at. I mean, it looks like they forgot to include the keyboard and multitouch trackpad, but at this price point it’s difficult to complain about small details like that. I can only assume that Android users would celebrate the fact that they can use whatever keyboard they like rather than being forced into what Apple included in their Magic Keyboard. No Cherry MX mechanical switches in that thing.

For what it is though, this thing isn’t bad at all. The build quality is fine, it does what it’s supposed to, it hasn’t stolen my identity so far and it’s nice and compact to throw in your bag with a cheap Bluetooth keyboard and mouse ready to throw down in your nearest Starbucks and write some serious scripts for your next YouTube video.

The Scores

  • Functionality 5/10
  • Build quality 3/10
  • Innovation 4/10
  • Fun factor 1/10
  • Value 8/10

I’m sure you can get exactly this product under a bunch of names from a bunch of stores on eBay and Amazon, and it comes in white, black or pink as far as I can tell. Is it worth buying? Well, I’m still going to use mine, it’s not going in the bin and for £6, that’s not a bad result.
